The short version: Slapppy stores your patterns and gestures locally on your Mac only. We don't collect analytics, don't track usage, and don't have access to anything you type or trigger. The app works entirely offline.
1. Who we are
Slapppy is developed and distributed by Arsène Laurent, an independent developer. You can reach us at hello@slapppy.com.
2. What data Slapppy collects
None Slapppy does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
Everything you create in Slapppy — patterns, gestures, assigned actions — is stored exclusively in your Mac's local UserDefaults (a sandboxed system storage on your device). This data never leaves your machine.
Specifically, we do not collect:
- What patterns or gestures you record
- What actions you assign or trigger
- What text you type via Slapppy
- Usage statistics or analytics of any kind
- Crash reports
- Device identifiers
- Your name, email, or location
3. System permissions
Slapppy requests two macOS permissions. These are used entirely on-device and no data from them is transmitted anywhere.
- Input Monitoring — to detect ⌥ + tap and ⌥ + drag events on your trackpad. Slapppy listens only for modifier key state and mouse movement/click events.
- Accessibility — to simulate keyboard events (e.g. F13–F20 virtual keys, text pasting) in response to your patterns. This is required by macOS to post system-level key events.
Slapppy does not read or log the content of your keyboard input, clipboard, or screen.
4. Automatic update checks
Minimal Slapppy uses Sparkle to check for updates. When checking for updates, Sparkle makes a network request to https://slapppy.com/appcast.xml to retrieve version information.
This request may include your IP address (as is standard for any HTTP request) and your current Slapppy version number. No personal identifiers are sent. You can check for updates manually at any time from the app's menu, or skip automatic checks entirely by declining the update prompt.
5. Purchase & payment
Slapppy is sold through Polar. Payment processing, order data, and your email address are handled exclusively by Polar under their own Privacy Policy. We receive only the information necessary to deliver your purchase (order confirmation and download link).
Slapppy itself does not require an account or login.
6. Data storage & deletion
All app data (patterns, gestures) is stored locally in your Mac's UserDefaults under the key com.slapppy.app. You can delete all Slapppy data at any time by uninstalling the app and running:
defaults delete com.slapppy.app
7. Third-party services
This website (slapppy.com) is hosted on GitHub Pages. When you visit it, GitHub may collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, referring page). See GitHub's Privacy Statement.
The website uses Google Fonts for typography. Google may log font requests. See Google's Privacy Policy.
No advertising trackers, analytics scripts (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.), or session recording tools are used on this website or in the app.
8. Children's privacy
Slapppy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Slapppy after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact

If you are in the European Union and have concerns about your data rights under GDPR, you may also contact your local data protection authority. Given that Slapppy collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete — but we are happy to confirm this in writing upon request.
